1870 US Census & German name help

The short story: 1870 US Census above Place of Birth is written Germany. In the same box, right above Germany is a word I cannot make out and would surmise this to be a more defined location. Word of note, 1860 US Census the origin was listed as Hannover and per instructions, "Germany" could not be used when a state therein could put in its place.

Today: I have an unknown place in the state/province/prefect/?? of Hannover, Germany.

Could someone with a level of German above myself (about the same as my cats), please look at this and see if it makes sense to anyone? I've attached 3 documents to review. Last line of one page has the father and first grouping of second page has the rest of the family. The third page is a blown up version of what is written in the origin box. By providing the whole pages, you can use the handwriting of the census taker for assistance.

I'm hoping it helps isolate an origin for my family as the only other record I have is a Canadian census of 1851 just saying Germany.
