Classification: Query
Surnames: Sachse, Saxton
My great-grandfather Wilhelm Sachse emigrated from Germany around 1850. His declaration says he forswore allegiance from the Prince of Schwarzburg-Sonderhausen 12 Apr 1860 in Flint, Michigan, when his name had earlier been changed to William Saxton. There are two other Saxtons nearby who entered their declarations from the same place, one the same day, one the following year. I believe they all may be brothers. I have found the ship's manifest for one, Johann Christina Sachse on the Meta 8 Sep 1857 NY, which states he was a gardener from Sondershausen.

Can you tell me if there are any online indexes to the records of the city of Sondershausen? I know there are some church records through the LDS on film, but I'd prefer an index so I know more precisely what to send for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This family is my brickiest of brick walls!

Thank you.
