My GGGrandfather, Philipp Schleyer, came over to Canada from Germany in
1841, and resided in New Brunswick until his death. I have a copy of the
"Lebrief" that accompanied him to Canada...It is written in German language, and was
translated for me into English by a German friend some years ago...
Philipp's father's name is listed on the
Lebrief as Johan Schleyer...
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to to provide any additional information on this family, and
earlier generations in particular.
The Lebrief states that he
had learned a trade (Locksmith) and was dated on May 11, 1836 in Schweinfurt. An
additional handwritten note indicates that he had proved in his trade in
Schwein, Bavaria...I believe this information was located at the Provincial
Archives in New Brunswick. His father's name was Johann Schleyer..Philipp
was living in Lenderstrauhen at the time the Lebrief was completed.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
