I have found a website to search Czech records. All areas have not been photocopied and are not yet on this site, but the work is still in progress.
Here is the site address: (

There is another site to help you use this site. It is: (

These records are in Czech, German(having been part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) and Latin. I use a translator that has suited me well, although, sometimes I have needed to try other online translators or just to search in google, etc. I also use and to see about the towns and villages. I use this translator: (

In, you have to know the village that your ancestor is from. Sometimes the town is combined in other town's records.

Just for information, if you also have ancestors whose towns are now in Slovakia, I have a great site for you. It is: ( It is in English (the site that is, the records are in Slovak, Hungarian, and, I think, Latin.) On this site you can search names. Try using various spellings. For instance, John can be Johann, Jan, Janos, etc. Michael can be Michael, Michal, Mihaly, etc. Last names and village names can be spelled various ways, too. My family comes from Pata, which I have found as Patta and Patha on this site and Pata nad Vahom on immigration records. DON'T GIVE UP! When I first tried this site I couldn't find anything. It is sometimes easier to search by other means.

You don't have to enroll in the site to use it, but if you want to save records you have to. SO, to search another way, go to SEARCH on top>scroll down until you find CONTINENTAL EUROPE>then on the left side hit scroll down to SLOVAKIA or any other of the countries--there are many--Italy, Armenia, Austria, Belgium and many more.>There are two links for Slovakia--and 1869 Census, which you may find useful after finding ancestors who lived then, but choose SLOVAKIA CHURCH AND SYNAGOGUE BOOKS>Here you can either search by name or you can scroll down to Browse through 2,224,780 images and search by religion(choose one)>County(this is where and come in handy)>and then PLACE, which will be villages. Sometimes villages are combined. My Pata family was found under Šoporna! a town I had never heard of.

For best searching, don't put in too much information. Sometimes Slovakia will be enough. If you are wrong because it doesn't have your town (like Pata wasn't there) it won't show anything.

Well, good luck to all!
