WEST AMWELL -- Charles W. Hartl, 83, died Thursday at home.
Born in Vienna, Austria, he came to West Amwell as a young boy.
He was a farmer in West Amwell most of his life, retiring 18 years ago. He also had been chief of security at Round Valley and Spruce Run state parks in Hunterdon County.
Mr. Hartl was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, and a member of Milford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Husband of the late Marianne Nathaus Hartl and son of the late Wilhelm and Marie Novosel Hartl, he is survived by a son, William T. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two daughters, Ellen M. O'Neill of Doylestown, Pa., and Maryann Rose of West Amwell; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rose of West Amwell, Stacey Rose of Plumsteadville, Pa., and Billie Anne and Erik Hartl of Fort Lauderdale; and a great-grandson.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Old Rocks Church Cemetery, Mount Airy-Harbourton Road, West Amwell.
There will be no calling hours.
