LAWRENCEVILLE -- Ernestine (Arnie) Melanie Rizzo, 76, passed away Friday of complications from a long struggle with cancer at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Vienna, Austria, she resided in Lawrenceville for the past 44 years.
Arnie enjoyed a good game of tennis, daily walks with friends and special times with her family.
Daughter of the late Friedrich and Anna Pelzer, she is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Victor P. Rizzo; sons and daughters-in-law Dennis Rizzo and Elizabeth Van Houtte of Mount Holly, Terry and Lena Rizzo of Lawrenceville, Bruce Rizzo of Oakland, CA and John and Kathy Rizzo of Yardley, PA; and grandchildren Louis and Trina Martelli, Drew Rizzo, Michael Rizzo and the late Andy Rizzo. Also surviving are sisters Luisa Wofinger and Maria Terringel of Vienna; nephews and nieces Peter and Renata Wofinger and Herbert and Binchen Wofinger and their children, also of Vienna.
The funeral will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to the Princeton Health Care System Foundation, Joe Marx Fund, 253 Witherspoon St., Princeton, NJ 08540 for the continued support of the caring nurses and staff of B-2.
