There was a summary of the inquest in a newspaper, I forget whether it the Mercury, Post or Echo, shortly after the drowning. I don't have a transcript to hand now, but after her name and age (both slightly incorrect) it began with the sentence "she was a drunken woman, unmanageable by her husband". It says she was drinking all day before the incident and was seen going along the canal bank towards her mother's house in the evening, which was a couple of streets away. She was found drowned the next day.
Incidentally, in case you're not aware, Catherine's parents were named Michael and Sarah Doherty, with Sarah's maiden name being Whelan.
