Any kin?? My brother-in-law said the following letter was either written by his grandmother or his mother Laura A. MORTON SANDS GRAHAM. He thinks possibly his grandmother's name could also have been Laura A. MORTON SANDS but not sure at this time. It reads as follows:
Information from LAURA A. MORTON SANDS 1967 -
Great Grandfather came from Wales, JAMES WARD SR.
Grandfather born in New York City, JAMES WARD JR.
Grandmother born in England, MARGARET JANE THOMPSON.
My mother's name was ANNA MARIE WARD, born in New York City, Jan.17,1863.
Married JOHN BENNETT SALATHIEL MORTON.
ON MY FATHERS SIDE:
My Gr-Grandfather came from Glasco, Scotland.
My Gr-Grandmother came from Dublin, Ireland, HANNAH MORTON.
They came to the U.S. and then to the Island of Eleuthera, Bahamas and invested in real estate.
They owned most of the town at Palmetto Point.
JOHN BENNETT SALATHIEL MORTON passed away in 1908, then my mother came back to the U.S. and lived the rest of her life.
She passed away July 25, 1952 in Miami, Florida. The rest of the children live in Miami, Florida and the U.S.
JAMES E. WARD was a school teacher in English and French lessons.
***NOTE: ANNA MARIE WARD's name was changed by pen or pencil at some later date to: ANNA MARIA WARD.
***NOTE: I am assuming MORTON is HANNAH's married name.
Would appreciate anyone with any info to add.
Searching desparately for any info as this is all I know!
Thank you, B.J. GRAHAM, 1020 E. 20 St., Tulsa, OK 74120-7423.
