The 1881 census had Edward listed as being born in Sanquhar but living in New Cumnock with Jemima and their children Agnes, William and Jessie W. My grandfather, James Roberston Hunter, didn't come along until 1888 so should be in the 1891 census which I don't have access to.

The Edward you mentioned from Muirkirk could also be the correct one I since I haven't yet been able to find an Edward from Sanquhar in any of the free online databases.

Oh well, the search goes on.
