I'm looking for information about (British) conscientious objectors in both world wars: my Grandad's uncle was a CO in WW1 (Thomas Cockerhill Lowson, Courier article is here and his son (ie my relation's cousin) was a CO in WW2 (Stuart Lowson, article I am not sure what happened to the other brother, Allan Lowson b1915, but I cannot find record of him either in the armed forces or in the paper as a CO. Maybe he was in a reserved occupation, as indeed my grandad's brother was.

Are there any records which could tell me what duties they were assigned instead - were they, perhaps, incarcerated as described in the BBC article this week?

I'm looking for records relating to these specific individuals, not general history -- I have a good understanding of the sorts of things that happened to "conshies".
