The Tithe Applotments (census substitute) 1820-1839 are now available from - free

15 Mooney's
The names are 2 x William, Parish Ballygibbon & Ballymackey 3 x John, Parish Newcastle
2 x Thomas, Terryglass

North Tipperary
Ballymackey Church of Ireland only has baptism records from 1877-1911 and marriages from 1845-1911.

Terryglass CofI has records from 1809-1911 for baptisms, marriages and deaths (the last being unusual)
Terryglass RC from 1824

S. Tipperary has Newcastle, RC records baptisms 1846-1880 and marriages 1822-1880

Ballygibbon although not listed as a parish where I found the above it is a Townland and a Parish in 1852 in the Union of Nenagh.(within 12 mi.)

If your Thomas was born 1804 he could very well have had his own land by this time. He maybe named after his father? Check his own children's names, especially 1st. son.

I would go for the marriage record as it might fit the dates better (or not) and a marriage records will have
both their father's name, the parish/place and date.

A birth record has parents names and mother's maiden name with place/parish and date.

These available on line with an Irish History Foundation, a paywebsite but not for profit.

If still in Ireland by 1852 look in Griffith Valuations: for simplified listings with just
Parish and Townland, useful for finding common parish's. for Griffith's with details such
as land description,(an office is an outbuilding), landlord and neighbours and the Poor Law Union locations.
