Born 1764, died 2nd.January,1835. Initially buried in The Rower Churchyard,Kilkenny, and there is a grvestone recording this. However, he was later re-interred in the family vault in the churchyard of St.Matthew's in Irishtown, Ringsend, Dublin 4.The vault cover records the names of the family interred as follows:
Jane Foot, died 1745, aged 32 and six of her children.
James Lundy, father of Jane, died 1750, aged 106!!
Jeoffry Foot, Gentleman of College Street, died 1805 aged 70
Catherine Foot,Jeoffry's wife,died 1810,aged 70
Jeoffry Foot, Esq.,of Holly Park and Alderman of Dublin, son of Lundy and Catherine, died 1824 aged 61
Lundy Foot,Esq.,Barrister at Law, second son of the above, who was barbarously murdered on 2nd.January,1835,in his 71st.year.
The Snuff/tobacco business was carried on after his death, with adverts for it appearing weekly in the Irish Times certainly till 1888(pages are available from The Irish Times online archive)
Note: - The family vault inscriptions in Irishtown have been eroded by weather and are only partly readable, but a record exists in two books available in the Dublin City Library, Pears Street-
Dublin Burial Grounds and Graveyards by Vivien Igoe,
Memorials of the Dead, Dublin City and County, by Egan and Flatman.
Finally it would be of great interest to know what happened to the Clogarreth estate after Lundy Foot's death in 1835,
(the spelling varies from Clogarit to Clogarald)until 1867 when it was in the possession of Ellen Archer, believed to be a widow. She married Pierce Grace of Ballavara in that year.
