Dan,

Its not unusual to see phoenetic spellings of Corcoran...was often up to the priest, as many were illiterate in the day....I see it occasionally in my own line. I have a line of Corkrans on my Mom's side (no jokes please, they emmigrated 60 years apart)from Dorchester, Md. who have spelled it that way their entire time in the US, since before 1800. Probably the boat captain or pursor spelled it that way...they never changed it back, but they know they're really Corcorans'. No Nagles' in my travels just yet...Mike
