Hi Suzanne, The name Demoy only exists in Ireland in the Galway City register area in the second half of the 19th century. However, the 1901 and 1911 Irish Census indicates that there were no Demoys in all of Ireland after 1900. The name is French in origin, probably Norman like so many other Irish names, the closest in this case being Devoy. It truly appears as if there was only one family consisting of John Demoy (1821-1893)and his wife Bridget (1854-1884) who had several children including John, Mary, Margaret and Bridget and probably Timothy who immigrated to Boston and raised a family there in Newton (where some of my own family immigrated to also). The US Census data reveals two sons, John and Timothy and some daughters but it doesn't appear as if John and Timothy ever married. Some of the girls may have married and you may have cousins there of a name different than Demoy. Good luck with your search Suzanne.
