I am going to list persons of your line so you will understand who I am
refering to in this info sent your way.
Yourself - Julie Segraves

Your father - James Edward Segraves, born 1910 Ithaca, N.Y.

Your grandfather - James E. Segraves, had cement factory in N.J.

Your 1st great-grandfather - John TR Segraves was in Civil War (GAR).

Your 2nd great-grandfather - William Segraves, born 1796, died 29 Aug 1866.
Wife name Mary, Lived Phillipsburg, N.J., Had two sons, (1) John T.R.
Segraves, died 6 Jul 1883, (2) William K. Segraves, died 23 Nov 1883 Old
Soldiers Home, Buffalo, N.Y. Both sons wounded at Gettysburg.

Your 3rd great-grandfather - George Segraves, born abt 1767/70 probably in
N.J., lived to be abt 80 yrs old. Wife name Rachel Merrill. Kept tavern near
Phillipsburg, N.J. George had four known sons, (1) Henry Segraves, born 1793
at Sumptown Twp, (now Warren County), N.J. Had large family, lived in Warren
Co, N.J. (I have info on his family). (2) William Segraves, your 2nd
great-grandfather. (3) James Segraves, born 28 Dec 1798, died 29 May 1866,
was a distiller, lived Lucerne County. Married Mary Meyer on 5 Oct 1823.
James and Mary had 3 daughters. 1. Margaret A. Segraves born Oct 10 1824,
married Ebenizer G. Pettibone, had 7 children. 2. Rachel Segraves born 24 Jan
1828 never married. 3. Sarah M. Segraves born 14 Feb 1832 married Daniel S.

letter). (4) John Segraves, forth known child of George and Rachel, born
1807, died 1883. I do have a little more info on this John.

Your 4th great-grandfather is James alias George Segrave. He is our Pioneer
Ancestor to America. Born abt 1740 in the area of Dublin, Ireland. His father
(your 5th great-grandfather) was Neil Segrave, a high prominet gentleman
(political) in Dublin, Ireland.
James alias George Segrave, born 1740 was the second son of Neil Segrave.
James had an older brother named John, born 1737 in Dublin. I have proff that
James father Neil and older brother John were educated in England. And it is
assumed that James was educated in England also. When James was of age, his
father acquired him a position in the Navy. the records list James as Ensign
James Segrave. Shortly after James was in the Navy he went AWOL (Absent With
Out Leave) and tryed at a court session in Middlesex a suburb of London, and
convicted to transportion to America. James Segrave was transported to
America in Febuary 1765 on the ship "Trial". After comeing to America James
changed his name to George as many of the persons with a convict record did.
I have records that James alias George Segraves did apply for several Tavern
License in what is now Warren County, New Jersey under the name of George
Segraves. Having a criminal record, he would have never been issued the
License under the name James. This area of the Jersey's was controlled by the
British in the early applications. Dates of these License were 1771 thru 1782
Warren Co, N.J.
James George Segraves wife name is not known. He had four known children.
1st child, George, born abt 1767-70. (your 3rd great-grandfather) Married
Rachel Merrill.
2nd child, Henry born abt 1771. Had tavern in Easton, Pennsylvania. I have
info on his family.
3rd child, James born 1774 married Elizabeth Shade. had tavern in Allentown,
Pa. This is my 2nd great-grandparents of Allentown, Pa.
4th child, a female, name not known. Only knowledge of her is that she
married a Mr.Hardy and located in Canada, where is unknown.
The sequence of these childrens birth is not known, however it is assumed
that George was the first born son. I have record of George Segraves or
Seagrave in the Revolution for the Colonies..
