I am researching the Mud Run train wreck of 1888. According to the newspapers, "Fathers Melley of Olyphant and Reilly of Providence were among those in the shattered section of the train, and all night long they ministered to the dying and rendered all the consolation they could." On the 1910 census (St. John's parish), it shows that he was born in November 1846 and emigrated to the U.S. in 1862. Rev. Melley died sometime between August and September, 1935. His long-time servant, Miss Josephine Brown, died in December of 1935.
