yes - but you dont get to see the actual register, just a research cert, which is a copy from the register. The books you can view in the research GRO room are the Index books, which the online BMD index is transcribed from, and show the references needed by the GRO staff to locate the correct details in the registers and make the copies for your certs. Research certs are photocopies of the relevant section of the register.

To order certs either by post, fax or in the GRO research room you use the Index references I posted above - i.e. Name / Event Type (e.g. birth) / Registration Year (and quarter if date is after 1878) / Registration District / Volume / Page

p.s. these indexes, BMD certs mentioned in my posts all refer to civil BMD records. Church records, i.e. RC parish records in this case, usually go back earlier than civil records and are separate and show slightly different details - e.g. godparents on baptisms which dont appear on civil records, RC parish records dont usually include occupations , addresses can be less detailed etc. See the website posted above by Denis for a website to search RC parish records for west Co. Cork. Millstreet RC parish is included, and listed under neighbouring Co. Kerry - see : http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/search....=

here's a link to the marriage mentioned above - includes parents names for the bride and groom (many parishes didnt record these details...) : http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details...
