Griffith Valuation is used as a census substitute and was done in Clare 1855 at that time there is no Martin Russell. There are 91 Russell's in Clare at that time.

Kilkee was a townland in two Parish's Parish Kilfearagh where there is a Kilkee Upper and a Kilkee Lower and
Ruan where there is a Kilkee East and Kilkee West
Parish Kilfearagh is in the Union of Kilrush and Parish Ruan
is in the Union of Corrofin.

The only Russell is one in Kilkee Upper and his name was Hugh. He maybe the older Martin Russell's father?

Hugh Russell, Parish of Kilfearagh, Townland Kilkee Upper
Town of Kilkee (pt.of) tenant of William Armstrong
#6 Merton-Square house, outbuilding yard and small garden
#7 same (doesn't say vacant nor given a tenant?)

Co.Clare is only one of 4 who do not list their bmd's with an Irish History Foundation. This is however, a pay website.

Military Attestations 1872-1915:

Martin Russell birthplace Kilkee, Clare, Clare Militia
TNA # WO96/1319/Sequence No. 204
You will need to find a genealogy company that carries British Military Records, see the National Archives in Kew
London for a link. This is also a pay website.

The only other information I have for the name Martin Russell is 7 entries in the Cork Commercial Directories
for the name 1867, 1870, 1881. (my viewer not working at the moment)

I would try google the two parish's above and see if they have their records on line. Also try the Clare Library who has parish records but I don't know if they do genealogy on line? + county United Kingdom+Ireland+county not just census material

Latter Day Saints copied from Civil Registrations 1864-1875 ONLY:
Parents: Martin Russell & Mary Walsh

*Mary born 6 June 1868 #404 Kilkee LDS#101168

Patrick born 7 Feb 1871 #481 Kilkee LDS 355814

*Mary 20 June 1873 Kilkee, LDS 255886

Martin born 12 Oct 1875 Kilkee LDS #255942

(*an irish custom of naming a child the same name as a deceased child)

There may have been children before or after these dates and you should be able to get certified copies of birth certificates after 1864 from the General Registry in Dublin. for criteria may have those

enter no first name just a surname and Clare/Kilkee Clare
and both parents name

There were 5 other Martin Russell's between 1864-1875

There are currently 31 Russell's listed in the Clare phone book and 2 living in Kilkee, addresses sufficient for mail delivery.
