Hello Gene,
I think at the time of the Tithes, Scattery came under the diocese of Limerick but not sure on that. I don't know if it would have been of any benefit to you as the Island wasn't re-populated until about 1843. My g-g-grandfather was a Michael Culligan whom I think was one of the Michael Culligans from Knock. There was a Michael(1) and another known as Michael(2) the Boatman living is Knock and I know that Michael (1) had 3 sons named Denis, Thomas & Stephen. I think that Thomas is the grandfather of Emmett Joseph Culligan the founder of The Culligan Softwater company. My great-grandfather was a Stephen Culligan who is buried somewhere in old Burrane Graveyard (don't know where exactly). There is a Michael Culligan from Knock also buried in that graveyard who died in 1866 and I have a copy of his death certificate which shows that he was a farmer and also Clerk of the petty Sessions Court in Knock. The informant at the death was a Margaret Culligan. I have a copy of the Kilmore Estate Sale papers which has maps of all the townlands in Killimer as well as a list of the Tenants in 1850. The Kilmore Estate was owned by Poole Hickman. I can mail you a copy if you send me your address.
