I am searching for the origins of William McGinnis, b 1809, and his wife, Jane Johnston, b 1813.
William was born in Belfast, and Jane was born in Castle William (?). They may have married in Northern Ireland or in Ontario, Canada.
At some point they migrated to Ontario, Canada, where William in December, 1846 acquired 200 acres of land in Durham County, Ontario. Later they moved to Ops Township in Victoria County.
Their first child arrived about 1846, and they had several others.
In the Canadian censuses, they belong to the Presbyterian Church, although there is some family mythology that one, or both of them, were Catholic. One of the Canadian censuses indicate that William was Scottish and Jane was Irish.
I am very interested in the parents of William, or Jane, or both.
