Actually, documentation, even for royalty, that far back will still have secrets & mysteries. I'm stuck on this family member. He would be my 22nd Great Grandfather (Hale is my maiden name). I'm baffled as to his date of birth. He died at 24 in battle. What's interesting is that from my search, his dob changes up from 1202 to 1223, which neither match to the dob of Henry & Eleanor. Eleanor was 12 yrs old when she married Henry. To be honest, this looks like a coverup. It's difficult to find an accurate list of Henry III's kids. History only focuses on Edward I, which makes a whole hell of a lot of sense if you look at the mess Henry III was in. The Hale surname is generic and defined either a regeion or characteristics in a Knight. My family tree happens to have both. What I believed happened was Walter was born before Edward. For whatever reason, the eldest went off to war and the next born became king. To 'keep within the family'. Thomas, Prince of England son of King Edward I married Walter De Hales granddaughter, Alice Hale.
