My 3rd great grandfather on my dad's side was Isaac Reid, born in 1828 in Macclesfield, Cheshire according to the information I have.
I would really like to find out who his parents were, but can't seem to figure out how.
He was married three times, but only listed his father's name once (Samuel Reid) however this is suspicious as the marriage took place while he was still married to another woman and it easily pausible he lied, as he lied about his bachelor status.
I cannot seem to find him in the 1841 census either, so trying to trace his parents through siblings also doesn't seem to be working.
I am really disappointed as this is my key family line in terms of tracing my actual surname back through history. Without this crucial link the Reid line will always stop at 1828!
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find my missing relative. I looked at the national archives website, but their records seem only to cover the 1837+ time period.
K. Reid (Canada)
