My name is Roland Touzeau Martin. My great-great grandfather was Stephen Touzeau Martin (23 Jan 1820 - 2 Dec 1894) of Guernsey and married to Anna Elizabeth Sachet (1828-1875). He emigrated to the U.S. in 1872 with his son, my great-grandfather, Roland Touzeau Martin. Stephen T. Martin was tenant/owner of Herm Island from 1856-1860. His father was Stephen Martin and his mother was Elizabeth Touzeau (both presumably of Guernsey also). I believe, but am not sure, that Elizabeth's father was named Roland Touzeau. Roland was living in Guernsey in 1792 with a Capt. Lorray, as evidenced by a letter, written in English, mailed to Roland in Guernsey by his grandmother, Mary Touzeau. Mary mentions a cousin of Roland named Tommy Hartley and a niece of Mary's she called Mrs. Leaver(sp?). I believe that Roland was probably Elizabeth's father because Mary's letter mentions a watch that she was giving to Roland that has passed down to me through the Touzeau Martin line. Can anyone fill in any details about Stephen Martin and Elizabeth Touzeau, their parents and any connection between Elizabeth Touzeau and Mary Touzeau's grandson Roland? I am guessing that Elizabeth would have been born around 1800 and Stephen maybe a bit earlier. I also have no information about Mary's son/Roland's father.
