I ran across some articles regarding the Aoyama Bochi, an old foreigners cemetery in Tokyo, Japan. It appears that sadly, like many U.S. cemeteries, it also is in danger of having many of its "unclaimed/abandoned" gravesites destroyed for development of a city park. You can read about its plight here: http://metropolis.japantoday.com/tokyo/580/feature.asp
This article contained a link to a group, The Foreign Section Trust, http://www.ii-idea.com/
, who are working with the Japanese government to convince them to preserve the graves and designate the cemetery as an important historical area.
The FST group has much information on their website, along with a name list of the burials and photographs of the markers and headstones:http://www.ii-idea.com/archives/cat_map.html
They are hoping to find surviving family descendants of those buried in the cemetery.
