I am looking for information about the Ikeda family who lived in the city of Ashiya, in Ongagun, Fukuoka, Kyushu, about 1900-1970, or even earlier.
I don't know the father's name, the mother's name was Ai Kinu. They had five children, two boys (names unknown), two girls (the elder named Hatsu), and one more boy. The youngest son's name is Toranosuke and he was my grandfather (he died about 1966-67).
Yone Yoshida was my grandmother (she died in the early 1970's). "Yoshida" is a name that her father purchased. She was the eldest of three siblings. Her younger brother's name is Tetsuro and her younger sister's name is Haruko.
Toranosuke Ikeda married Yone Yoshida and they had four daughters: Aiko, Toshie, Ayako, and Yoko.
Aiko (b.1930) married a US serviceman, Edward Young, in 1960 and came to the USA. They had three children, Ken, Ami, and Mae.
Toshie (b.1933) married a sea merchant named O'Leary and had two children, Noriko and Tadashi. This part of the family may now live in Sydney, Australia.
Ayako (b.1935?) married a man named Tomoda, had one daughter, then divorced (about 1966-67). She has since regained the family name (Ikeda) and may now live in Kurosaki (prefecture unknown).
Yoko (b.1937) married James Bayles and came to the USA. They had two children, Deborah and James Jr. Yoko died in 1983.
If you think that you may be related to me, I would love to hear from you! Also, if you could help me in obtaining a copy of the Ikeda or Yoshida family koseki, I would be very grateful. Arigatou gozaimasu.
