Hello,

I saw your post on a board on ancestory about the Demchuk lineage. My grandmother (Anna Sawicka) was born around 1925 to a “Helena Demchuk”. I’m also not sure of the spelling. I’m trying to trace her lineage because she couldn’t find or contact any family after the war. My grandma was taken from her family at 15 and doesn’t remember much detailed information but what I know is that her mother and father both had previous spouses that had died. That said, I’m not sure if Demchuk is Helena’s married name from her first marriage or her maiden name. Her name also may be spelled Halina. The area that she lived in with my grandmother and her husband from her second marriage is also confusing I believe it was Poland at the time but is now Ukraine or something like that. Do you have any information regarding this? Helena would be born in the 1870s/80s I’m not sure. My grandmother said that her parents were old so I’m just not sure how old.

The possible areas are: Holoty, Nowy Malynsk, and May have originally been from the Lublin area.

Her second husbands name was Josef or Jozef Sawicki.

Other children of Halina from this second marriage include: Jadwiga, Stefan, and Jan. Half siblings: Antoni and Alex. There also are likely more step siblings and half-siblings that haven’t been recalled.

Does any of this information ring any bells?
