Hi! I'm a descendant of Christopher Stealey, who was Mary Stealey's father. I suspect that your Mary Stealey Allender may have died sometime between 1830 and 1840. Joseph Allender was listed as a hoh on the 1840 census in Daviess County and there was a young man between the ages of 20 and 30 in the household. Joseph would have been 28. There was also an older man between the ages of 60 and 70 which could have been William; he had been listed as aged 50 to 60 on the 1830 census. William's presumed wife (Mary) was aged 40 to 50 on the 1830 census but no female of that age is listed in Joseph's 1840 household. The only female listed is 20 to 30 years of age.

Have you had a chance to investigate Christopher Stealey, our common ancestor? He was also the father of John Stealey of Monongalia County and Jacob Stealey of Harrison County. I have been trying to learn more about him and where he might have lived before he came to Monongalia County, (now) WV.
