My great grandmother was Alice Inez Wileman (B1899 in IN), her marriage license to my great grandfather, Eldon Frank Bright (dated 7/28/1920) has her parents as follows:
Father: Calvin C.B. Wileman, born in TN, occupation is retired farmer, current residence is Velpen, IN
Mother: Freelove Davis, born in Petersburg, IN, occupation is deceased, current residence is deceased.

Alice passed away in 1951 in Illinois so we don't know much about her or her family and I was hoping you might have some additional information that might help me.

My grandmother told us that her mom (Alice) always told her that she was adopted because she was orphaned early in life. We know alice had a brother that lived in IN and that was alive in the 1950's, we don't know if it is a biological or adoptive brother. Alice's youngest son remembers getting a card for his mom from this brother after she had passed away but over the years he can't remember anything more than that.

While her marriage license says Wileman was her maiden name her youngest 3 children show her last name as Shanks.

I don't believe that the Wileman's were her birthparents as on the 1900 census I found Calvin and Freelove and 3 of their children the youngest being Sarah born in 1884.

If you get a chance could you look and see if you have anything showing if Calvin & Freelove Wileman might have raised Alice.

Thank you in advance for your help.
