Seeking information about several William ALLEY / ALLEEs in the early Cayuga, NY area. William W ALLEY was b. 1763, NY and settled in Sempronius/Moravia, Cayuga, New York abt 1805. He married Phebe DUSENBURY and had 13-16 children; many of whom stayed in the area, others to Stueben Co, NY; and Hillsdale/Whitehall, MI (they are in many local history biographies). He was in Woodstock, Ulster, NY for the 1790 census; Neversink, Sullivan (Ulster), NY in 1800 census; then in Sempronius/Moravia, Cayuga, NY until 1850. House deeds in Moravia list his first cousin as Jeremiah ALLEY, also listed Benjamin ALLEE (b 1815, CT) and wife Minerva P (GARDINER, they lived in Moravia). According to "Families of Ancient New Haven" compiled by Donald Lines Jacobus, pub 1922, pgs 14-15 ; he is the son of William ALLEY of the 1790 New Haven, CT census (mother [m1?]: Elizabeth). His siblings are listed as: Mary b 1757; Elizabeth b 1761, m Joseph GORHAM; Hephzibah b 1763; (William was bp 2 June 1765, New Haven, CT); and Sarah bp 27 Dec 1767, m Ephraim BROWN; all in New Haven, CT. Questions: Is his father the William ALLEY in the 1820 census for Genoa, Cayuga, NY (1001011210101)? Who else is in that household? What is his mother's maiden name and did he have other siblings aside from those mentioned? Is he related to Walter William ALLEE (b 1796 NY, d 1866 Lenox/Jefferson, Ashtabula, OH; m2. Sybil SAWDY) who lived in nearby Scipio; Dansville; and Hopewell, Ontario, NY in the 1820s/30s? (The Auburn newspaper listed a letter in Scipio at the PO for a William ALLEE in July 1818). Is William ALLEY of Moravia's lineage: Jean d'AILLY (Huguenot) aka Jean ALLEE & Elizabeth Perdineau1, Jean ALLEE & Susannah Dassier2, William ALLEY & Elizabeth unknown in New Haven3? Was William ALLEY of Genoa b 1745 in CT, m (2). Elizabeth MOORE in 1779 (NJ), and lived in New Haven, CT as I've seen in unsourced profiles? (As anyone researching the ALLEE / ALLEY /ALYEAs etc knows, there were MANY Williams from/in NY during this time frame, often each with several sons who named at least one William.)
