There is a mention of Marietta, a niece of William Eichelberger, who received an annuity from him in the will. From the letters and documents I have, the Eichelbergers came from Switzerland in the early 1800's, settling mainly in Ohio. There were two brothers, creating two lines of the family. One was a grandfather to Gen. Eichelberger and the other his great-uncle. This was confirmed in 1931, by letter from the Gen's wife to my grandmother Annie Wolfe (nee Eichelberger).
My grandmother researched the family tree from 1930 to 1945 and corresponded with many Eichelbergers throughout the USA. One Eichelberger lived in Seattle and worked extensively on a family tree, and another actively interested in the research was Frank Eichelberger, Superintendent of the City of Dayton, Ohio. There were also Eichelbergers in New York City and Virginia. Sadly of course many of these people must by now have passed away but fortunately the letters remain. if you have any more names I could check for references.
