Oh heavens, this is so close to the question I have. My ggrandfather was married in the M. E. Church (this is all I have, but the lady thot that meant Methodist Episcipol Church)
in Charles City in 1887. By a reverend R. W. Coates or Goates. The lady thot this was a church of people of German descent? ANY knowledge of this would be GREATLY appreciated. I am studying James Kendrick married to AManda Shannon. Thanks to all.

Also, was Charles City known as St Charles Township in 1870? There is a St CHarles township listed in the floyd co. census in 1870, and I was guessing that this was one and the same. thanks
Did the M. E. Church records get destroyed? The marriage I am looking for took place on Feb. 16, 1887. nqh@earthlink.net
