Franklin, We are aware of the Ralph Smythe who came to New England in 1600's. Our son purchased a reprint of that booklet about that family. We were so disappointed we could not find our Reuben in that booklet. Our Reuben filed and received a Revolutionary War Soldier pension in which he tells quite a bit about his early life. In 1785 he was among the "Vermont Sufferers" who received land in Chenango County New York. One of our cousins has created a website for Reuben Smith's family at http://members.tripod.com/debbie.russell/id17.htm.

Maybe Reuben's father was not named Ralph Smythe but everything else our Aunt Maxine has told us has been verified by documents. Thanks so much for your interest. Would any of your contacts happen to know about our Reuben?? Thanks so much for your comments. Ruth Smith
