Subject: Re: Wilson Family, Red Land Township, 1820s-1850s
Date: Thursday, January 25, 2018
My birth home is Nevada County, Arkansas, so I am familiar with the county. The earliest recorded land purchase, by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, in Nevada (Hempstead in 1826) was by Willis Wilson on July 10, 1826, Certificate # 63, for 80 acres in Section 26, Township 11S, Range 23W. Rucker T Wilson and Richard Wilson bought parcels in Section 3, Township 11S, Range 23W, in the 1860's. You can find them and other Wilson land purchases at this link https://glorecords.blm.gov/results/default.aspx?searchCriteria=type=patent|st=AR|cty=099|ln=Wilson|sp=true|sw=true|sadv=false#resultsTabIndex=0 Also located in Section3, Township 11S, Range 23 West is Midway Cemetery adjacent to Midway Methodist Church. Rucker T, his wife Susan and some of their children are buried at Midway Cemetery, which is located in Missouri Township of Nevada County. Prescott is also in Missouri Township. You can find Midway Cemetery burials at Nevada County Depot Museum website link http://www.depotmuseum.org/cemetery.php/refcemnames/50 . The following link to Nevada County Depot Museum, Cemetery Survey of cemeteries in Nevada County, Arkansas, Wilson, may help in your search. http://www.depotmuseum.org/cemetery.php Good luck with your search. Back then, births were usually at home and recorded in the family Bible, and not by the State.
