Adaline Louise Ferguson of Yankton, SD formerly of Mora, and Breckenridge, died on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Avera Sister James Nursing Home in Yankton, SD. She was 74 years old.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1932 in Pipestone County, MN to Florent and Germaine (Wieme) DeVriend. She grew up in Pipestone County and attended country school in Grange Township. She later attended Pipestone High School. After finishing her education she began working for Hess Motor Express in a clerical position.

She was united in marriage in 1953 to Chester J. Kimball.

One daughter was born of this union.

After their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis where she worked for Litton Co. wiring and assembling microwave ovens.

Through the years she also worked for several nursing homes.

On Jan. 17, 1981, she married Arlin A. Ferguson and moved to Brecknridge.

She then worked for 3M at Wahpeton, ND from 1981 to 1988 when she had to take early retirement due to rheumatoid arthritis.

In the spring of 1998 they moved to Mora to live on her daughter’s acreage, and a few years later her daughter Terry, was diagnosed with cancer.


She passed away in December of 2001.

On Feb. 19, 2002, Arlin passed away unexpectedly.

After his death, she moved to Yankton, SD to be near her sister Louise.

Due to failing health, she moved to Majestic Bluffs Assisted Living in May of 2002 and she lived there until February 2006, when moved to Avera Sister James Nursing Home.

Throughout her earlier years, she enjoyed dancing, bowling, and also loved doing yard work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florent and Germaine DeVriend; husband, Arlin Ferguson, daughter, Terry Carlson; sister, Mary Haupert; infant sister, Florine; and brother-in-law, Milton Novak.

She is survived by sisters, Georgenna Novak of rural Pipestone and Louise (Jerome) Pierret of Yankton, SD; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Breckenridge with the Rev. Darcy Troville officiating.

Pallbearers were Bruce Novak, Dan Pierret, Sue Fields; Nancy Schenk, Dave Pierret, Chris Pierret.

Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge.
