William Wenban 1802-1878, William Wenban 1822-1891, William Henry Wenban 1859-1919. William Henry Wenban was my grandfather,so I am gr. gr. grandaughter of William and Mary Anne(Odiam) Wenban and gr.gr.gr. grandaughter of Thomas and Dinah Burgess????? I feel quite ancient!
Ray Wenban was my great Uncle(brother of William Henry Wenban?) and Lorna mum's cousin, so she must be my second cousin????
I haven't thought much about relatives before and I am getting quite a buzz discovering I have so many!
Mum left Sydney and the family behind her and moved to Victoria in the forties. I think when Rosa Adela split the children up they ceased to be family and each went their own way, sadly. When I was a child we re-established contact with, and visited,Uncle Boy (Percie) who was living in Lane Cove, and Aunty Phoebe who was up Gosford way.All their children, my cousins, were already adults and I am the youngest of that generation, so had little in common with them.
Uncle Boy was researching the family history back then (sixties) ,and it was he who told me about the family bible. I really hope the Ford mentioned has the original family bible, as Boy was devastated when he heard Phyllis had given it away. He said it was a large leather bound bible. I gather it may have been a pulpit bible. He remembered it well as his father used to read it to them every evening. Boy also said the family tree was recorded in the front pages and cover.
