Sirianna Troan Hogenson
Sirianna Troan was born to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Troan April 6, 1843 in Lille Elvedalen, Norway. On October 4, 1870 she married Carl Hogenson and in April of the following year they came to America.
After living for a few weeks at Highland Prairie, MN., they came to Pierce Co., settling on the farm in Spring Lake which has since been their home. Six children were born to them - four boys and two girls - of whom four survive. Hogan, Anton and Inga at home, and Clara, married to Milton Anderson, also of Spring Lake. Mr. Hogenson died June 18, 1911.
About eight years ago, Mrs. Hogenson sustained a fracture of the hip which crippled her so that she was unable to walk without the aid of a chair. The last year or so her health failed rapidly. On Sunday July 4, 1926 her long and useful life ended.
Funeral was held from the home and the Spring Lake Lutheran Church, Rev. Berven officiating. Her body was laid to rest beside her husband and two sons.
The death of Mrs. Hogenson marks the passing of another of the pioneers of Spring Lake, whose ranks have been thinning rapidly the last few years. Before long they will all be laid away in their last resting place. Mrs. Hogenson and her husband were charter members of the Spring Lake Lutheran Church and were among its most loyal and faithful supporters.
Besides her four children, she is survived by an older sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Sorhus in Norway and one grandchild.
