In 1869 he came to this country, locating at first in Fillmore Co., Minn., where he worked for two years. In 1871 he came to Eau Galle, Dunn Co., where he worked for the Carson & Rand Lumber Co. for about eight years. In June 1878, he married Miss Ragnhild Ryhaug, and a year and a half later they settled on the farm in Spring Lake which has since been their home.
Five children were born to them - three boys and two girls of whom four survive: Christine married to Charley Jacobson of Spring Lake; John, engineer on the Soo R.R., living at Glenwood, Minn.; Henry, living on the home place; and Minnie, married to Henry O. Nelson of Minneapolis.
About three weeks ago Mr. Hogenson was taken ill with the flu which resulted in his death Friday, Jan 21. Funeral was held from the home and the Spring Lake Lutheran Church Monday, Jan. 24, Rev. Berven officiating. Burial was made in the Spring Lake Cemetery.
Beside his wife and children he leaves five grandchildren and an older sister, Mrs. Christine Tharaldsteen, in Norway. His brother Carl, who was also a resident of Spring Lake died in 1911.
