Ellen Hanson

Ellen Hanson was born Dec. 15, 1856, in Osterdalen, Norway, where she was also baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1881 she came to America, settling at first in Minneapolis, where she worked for some time. Later she worked at Eau Claire, Woodville and other places. When a reservation in North Dakota was opened she filed a claim which she later proved up.
For twelve years she made her home most of the time with her nephew, Henry Peterson and family, in Spring Lake, and it was there that she died Thursday, March 5, after an illness of several months.

The funeral was held from Spring Lake Lutheran church Sunday, March 8, Rev. Berven officiating. Burial in the Spring Lake cemetery.

She is survived by the following nephews and nieces; Henry and Barney Peterson of Spring Lake; Oscar Peterson, of Spring Valley; and their sister, Mrs. Otto Larson of Duluth; Henry O. Hanson of Spring Lake, and his two sisters, Mrs. Martin Anderson, of Barron, and Mrs. Lester Legried, of Newark, NJ. Also by a younger sister in Norway, and many more distant relatives.
