Hi Lynda,
Great to hear from you. First of all, I do have a photo of Jacob john Kurysh know also a Jack or John. The family now spells it Kurish. He and Mary had 3 or 4 kids. There was AuntFrances, who is still living at the brave age of 92 somewhere on Victoria Island. Then there is Aunt Dorothy who is about 85 and lives in Thunder Bay. There was also Aunt Beatrice (deceased). My Dad, Ken (now 75) was the youngest and only boy. He was 2 when his Dad died in 1934 - I think I said 1932 but that is not correct as I have a copy of his death cert. Anyway, I know that Jack came over from what was then Austria with a first cousin. They were sent out by their Grandfather as things were either difficult or dangerous at home. Maybe these 2 were first cousins. Apparently the grandfather was a well known civil engineer who built mainly bridges. The 2 cousins had a big falling out and the last time they spoke to each other was in early 1930,s. My Jack was a violinist so the family is very musical. It is such an unusual name I cant envisage that they weren't related. If you send me a direct email address I'll try to get my daughter to show me how to email a copy of the photo, the death certs and anything I feel might be of interest. Cant wait to hear back. I have 3 bothers and a sister. My dad and the boys are, I think the only Kurish's listed in the Canadian telephone directories. My emial address is draftden@bigpond.net.au
Take care, Mary-Rose Campbell
