Mrs. Maren Anderson
Mrs. Maren Anderson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thore Thoreson, Jan. 30, 1846, in Lille Elvedalen, Norway. In 1873 she came to America, settling at Hudson, where she worked for some time.
On July 3, 1875, she married Simon Anderson, of Spring Lake. Five children - all boys - were born to them, of whom three survive - Andrew, Thore and Bernard (Ben), all of Spring Lake.
Until Mr. Anderson's death, which occurred in 1891, they lived on their farm in the town of Spring Lake. For ten years Mrs. Anderson has made her home with her three sons, living about five years with her son Bernard and his family; for two years she has been in failing health, but with the exception of a sick spell about a year and a half ago she has been up and about until last June when she broke her hip. After several weeks she was, however, able to be up a little, but she kept on growing weaker. A few days ago she was taken ill with the flu and Jan. 4 she died.
Funeral was held from the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Thore Anderson, and the Spring Lake Lutheran Church, Rev. Berven officiating. Burial was made in Spring Lake cemetery.
Besides her three sons she is survived by eight grandchildren and a host of more distant relatives.
