I don't have too much info on this family. My GGrandfather was William Nicholas Beneke. Actually I'm not absolutely certain of the spelling because I have found it spelled three different ways, Benecke, Beneke or Behnke. I know that my ancestors lived in Bremen in 1881 and I assume that they lived there when my GGrandfather left in 1867. I don't knoe his Father's or Mother's names but that there were ten children in the famly, seven sons and three daughters. Three sons came to America, one settled in California, Charles, one in Washington, Henry, and William in Georgia. Each spelled the name differently and on my GGrandfather's marriage it became anglicized to Bankey and he left it that way. Henry was the one that spelled the name as Beneke. The last letter from him that I have been able to Locate was written from Pine City, Washington in 1886. Hope this helps and good luck in your search.
