Project Instructions
Images that contain names with information should be classified as the "Record" form type. From these images we are keying the given, surname, father's name, and the court date.

The Court Date to be keyed will be the most recent date provided. Be aware that typically the Court Date is spelled out. If "Ditto", or "Do" marks appear then key down date from previous record.

For Bastardy records the primary person is the mother.

The Offense Type will typically be a "bastardy". Be aware that the Offense Type can be in multiple locations, see samples for examples.

Only prefix values should go in the prefix field. When provided, the Prefix can be located before the Given name.

Given

Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains using the dictionary provided for assistance. If a name does not appear in the dictionary then key the name as seen. When provided, the Given Name can typically be located by having the phrase: "Single Woman" before or following the name. Court Month

Key the month in its three-letter abbreviation from the date using the dictionary provided to assist you. The Court Date will be the most recent date provided. Be aware that typically the Court Date is spelled out. If "Ditto", or "Do" marks appear then key down date from previous record.

Index

Choose the "Index" form type when the image contains an internal index. It will be a list of names, and will typically say "Index" at the top.

Additional Image Samples

Cover page, Section header, etc.

Use the “Cover page, Section header, etc” type for images that don’t contain any data, but might be interesting to look at because they provide some type of context for the image set. For instance, historical notes, affidavits, and so forth.

Additional Image Samples

Image with no data

Use the “Image with no data” type for images that don’t contain any data or any useful context that might be interesting for someone to look at. For instance, an image containing only the blank background or an image with a microfilm target on it.
