About this project
This collection contains the names of US Navy and Marine Corps members serving primarily on shore installations.We will be keying name, service year, and service place fields.

Name Entry
Place-Date
Name Entry
Choose the Name Entry form type for images with keyable names. These images may or may not contain a Service Year and/or Service Date.
Given
Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains using the dictionary provided for assistance. If a name does not appear in the dictionary then key the name as seen.

Surname
The Surname is the last name of the primary person to whom the record applies. Key the Surname using the dictionary provided for assistance. If the surname does not appear in the dictionary then key the surname as seen.

Suffix
Key all titles, such as "Jr" or "III", following the surname of the primary person to whom the record applies using a dictionary if provided for assistance. If a suffix does not appear in a dictionary then key the suffix as seen.

Service Year
Key the Service Year. If a year range is given , such as 1963-1964, key the first year.

Service Place
Key the Service Place. Sometimes the Service Place is a ship, sometimes a shore location. If a ship, such as U. S. S. Nevada, key the "USS" portion with no spaces or puncuation, the rest of the entry as seen. If the place is a shore location, then key as seen.

Choose the Place-Date form type for images which only contain a Service Place and/or Service Date and no keyable names.
Service Year
Key the Service Year. If a year range is given , such as 1963-1964, key the first year.
