Project Instructions
This collection contains various petitions and applications from the State of Texas. These were contained in files of all the correspondence surrounding petitions made to the State of Texas. The content of the applications and petitions is very varied, ranging from applications for protection to petitions for compensation for different events.
Only information from the folder cover is being keyed. From the folder cover the name, folder title, and date are being keyed. Occasionally the name on the folder will be the name of an organization. The name of the organization should be keyed in the given name field. Note that the folder cover may be a paper overlay and not an actual folder cover. It will be very helpful for this project to view the image samples found on the wiki to inderstand what forms we are keying.

Folder Cover
Choose the "Folder Cover" form type when the image is of a folder or has the series information written on a small paper overlay. See additional image samples on the wiki for more examples.
Prefix
Key any titles before the Given name, such as "Dr", "Rev", "Mr" or "Mrs", using the dictionary provided for assistance. If a prefix does not appear in the dictionary then key the prefix as seen. Names in the folder header title are generally divided by a comma with the surname preceding the comma. If no comma appears, key the entire name into the given name field. If "name" is obviously an organization instead of a name, key into the given name.
Given
Key the first name or initial and any middle names of the primary person to whom the record pertains using the dictionary provided for assistance. If a name does not appear in the dictionary then key the name as seen. Names in the folder header title are generally divided by a comma with the surname preceding the comma. If no comma appears, key the entire name into the given name field. If "name" is obviously an organization instead of a name, key into the given name.
Surname

Cover page, Section header, etc.
Use the “Cover page, Section header, etc” type for images that don’t contain any data, but might be interesting to look at because they provide some type of context for the image set. For instance, historical notes, affidavits, and so forth.
