Project Instructions This collection contains records of individuals applying to become registered nurses in Scotland. Fields being keyed include name, residence place, age, birth date and place, and the registration date.

Each individual in this project will have several pages of information. Pay particular attention to the form type descriptions so the correct form is being keyed for each individual. Typically the form that should be keyed contains birth information, but this is not always the case. Paying close attention to keying the correct image will ensure individuals are not missed and that duplicate records are not created.

Application

File:ScotlandNurseReg Application 1.JPG

Choose the "Application" form type for images with the following identifying traits.

Near the top of the image one or more of the following phrases will appear:

  • "The General Nursing Council for Scotland"
  • "Application for Registration for (Intermediate) or (Existing) Nurses"
  • "General Nursing Council for Scotland"
  • "Application by Holder of the Certificate of the Royal Medico-Psychological Association for inclusion in the Mental or Mental Defective Part of the Resister"
  • "General Nursing Council for Scotland"
  • "Application Form"
  • "Form X7"

Most forms will have numbers 1-3 or 1-4 where the name, age and residence information or name, birth date, place, and residence information is keyed.

Do not choose the “Application” form type for images with phrases “Form X,” “Form X8,” “FormX9,” or “FormX10” in the upper right corner of the image, or any other variation of “Form X” other than “Form X7.” Choose the “Cover page” form type for those images.

Choose the "Registration" form type for images with "General Nursing Council for Scotland" at the top of the image in bold lettering followed by "File No."

Cover page, Section header, etc

Use the "Cover page, Section header, etc” form type for images that do not contain data, but might be interesting to look at because they provide context for the image set. Example: historical notes, affidavits, etc.
