About this project

This project is a collection of marriage records and marriage banns from the Pavia region of Italy. The records are in Italian and usually quite legible. The difficulty rating of advanced is determined by the records which are not in a pre-printed format and the occasional illegibility of some records. The project is an exciting collection of invaluable genealogical information.

It is possible that for some records, which are not form based, or in other words are simply written out in paragraph form, that they may extend onto the next image. Whenever possible this should be checked for.

Matrimonio

Atti_Di_Matrimonio.jpg

These images may contain one to six marriage records, handwritten or preprinted. There are two columns per page. In the first column is the record number and the names of the people marrying. In the second column is the text of the marriage record containing dates, birth locations, and family information.  Matrimonio records will include both Atti di Matrimonio and Pubblicazioni di Matrimonio.

Record Number

Key the record number, "Numero" or "No.", from the margin of each marriage.
See Example

Please note: More than one date may be found on a record. Depending on the form being used the Marriage year is NOT always within the first three lines of the record. Many times this is the Year the record was entered in the book. This is especially true if it is a hand written form. (See Serie A and Serie B Examples below)

Make sure you are entering the Marriage Year and not the Year the record was entered in the book.
