Project Instructions
This collection is a register of persons entitled to vote for the northern division of Nottingham, United Kingdom for the year 1885. Registers typically provide a name and place of abode, and older registers may include a description of property and qualifications to vote. Registers were compiled at a local level, with local polling districts being combined to form parliamentary constituencies. Names in registers published before 1918 are often arranged alphabetically within the polling district or parish.
For this project we will be keying the name, place of residence, civil parish, and polling district.

Polling District
Key the Polling District as seen on the image using the dictionary provided to assist you. The polling district can be found at the top of only some images and will be followed by the words "Polling District." See image samples on the wiki for further clarification .
Civil Parish
Key the Civil Parish as seen on the image using the dictionary provided to assist you. The parish is most often found at the top center of each page above the list of names or in a short paragraph above the beginning of a list of names following the phrase "withing the Parish or Township of _______________."
If more than one civil parish appears on an image, create a new section for that parish. If the civil parish has no registrants (it says "NONE" under the column headings), do not create a new section for this parish.

Suffix
Key all titles, such as "Jr" or "III", following the surname as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you.

Key the surname as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you.
Given
Key the first name or initial and any middle names as seen on the record using the dictionary provided to assist you. Initials should be keyed with a space between them and without entering the periods.
Prefix
Key any titles before the given name, such as "Dr", "Rev", "Mr" or "Mrs", as seen on the image using the dictionary provided to assist you.
Residence Place
Key the residence place for each person as seen on the image. This can be found in the third column from the left, next to the list of names. It will usually be entitled "Place of Abode."

Use the “Cover page, Section header, etc” type for images that don’t contain any data, but might be interesting to look at because they provide some type of context for the image set. For instance, historical notes, affidavits, and so forth.

We are not anticipating there being any images that should be classified as "Image with no data".
Use the “Image with no data” type for images that don’t contain any data or any useful context that might be interesting for someone to look at. For instance, an image containing only the blank background or an image with a microfilm target on it.
