About this project
These individual burial permits are legible making the project level difficulty Easy. The permits contain basic information: Name, Race, Gender, Age, Birth Location, Burial Location, Death Place, and Death Date.

Key any titles before the name, such as "Dr" or "Rev" in the Prefix field.

Alias Given
On some records, a second name is given in parentheses or quotes. This name is usually a nickname or maiden name. Key the first name or initial and any middle names or initials in the Alias Given field. If you cannot distinguish a given name or surname, please input the entire name in this field.

Alias Surname
Key any Alias Surname which appears. Occasionally an alternate name may be recorded for a given individual. This name may be denoted by parentheses. All the rules for keying a primary name should also be followed for keying any alias name.

Gender
The Gender can be found in several places on the various forms. On some forms the words "Male" and "Female" are either circled or underlined; and, the word "Sex" is followed by an "F" or an "M". If the Gender is abbreviated, key the full word.

Key the race from the fields titled "Race", "Color", or underlined/circled under the name using the drop-down list to help you. If a Race does not appear in the drop-down list then key as seen, including abbreviations.

Spouse Given Name
Key the Spouse Given Name as it appears on the record, using the drop-down menu to help. The spouse name may appear in the "Husband of Wife of" section. If a name does not appear in the drop-down list then key as seen.

Capture the Spouse Surname from the "Husband of Wife of" section of the record using the provided drop-down list to help identify names. If a name does not appear in the drop-down list then key as seen.

Key the Age in years only. If the Age on the record is given in years, months, and days key only the years. If an Age is given in months and days key only the months as a fraction of twelfths. For example, 3 months would be keyed as 3/12. If an Age is given in days only then key as 0.

Enter the full name of the month from the date of birth, using the dropdown list to help you.

Enter the day from the date of birth. This will be a number from 1 to 31.
