Extra Keying Helps
If state is not identified with the residence city, sometimes it can be determined with the newspapers at the end of the article, which may list the same city, as well as the state.
Common Keying Errors Found by Reviewers
Many Army Award records are being miscategorized as Press Release form types and as a result false death dates entered. Reading over the text and reviewing the example images will help determine what type of record it is.
Many of the sets have duplicate pages. As in any other keying project, if you see an image that you have seen 'in this group of images', it should be marked as duplicate image. If you saw the same image in a previous group of images, it is not a duplicate within this current 'group of images'.
It is not a duplicate if one image has Page 1 of a Press Release and another image has Page 2 of a Press Release. You must key the info seen on each page separately without 'remembering' what you saw on an earlier image. This project is the same as other projects.
Do NOT include information that you find on Page 2 or Page 3 of a Press Release on the Page 1 Keyed info. If you do, you are hurting your ratings because the reviewer will be removing that info from Page 1 Keying and having to add or create it for the later pages.

Q: Are we assuming the wife's surname if only the husband's surname is given, i.e., John Doe's wife, Jane?

Q: What exactly does this mean (it's under Event Year), "If there is no date in the top right, an event date may be taken from the body of the text if present other than the death date"? Are you saying if there is no date on the press release, to use the date the military action occurred?
- A: Yes. It means key the date at the top of the form or if not shown, key the date the event occurred. Leave blank if neither date is shown. User:Wiedwoman 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Q: When there is no date at the top of the article, should we key the event date of their injury or battle, other than the Death Date or Medal of Honor event date since that is Death Date?

Q: Are we only to key the primary person that the article is about and any family members that are listed? Some Press Releases are not about a Primary Person. Also, when a person is getting an award, the press release includes other people from the unit that are not necessarily a Commanding Officer. Are these people supposed to be included?
- A: According to the WIKI we are to key all persons except commanding officers . The WIKI States: Press release and army awards form types will have names of persons and sometimes family members scattered throughout and often spanning multiple pages. Please key all names of persons and family members present with the exception of the primary persons commanding officers. Most information being keyed will be found by reading the record and looking for key words or other indicators such as "the son of", "born", "a Doughboy from", "Next of kin", "posthumous", etc. User:Wiedwoman16 September 2013 (UTC)
- A: Duplicates within the 4-image set must be exact duplicates to be marked as Duplicate Image. If it is the 2nd or 3rd page of the same Press Release, it is not a duplicate because it has different information on it.
Q:If the image is obviously the last page of a press release, but contains only the list of where it was sent... do we mark it as image with no data, or list the name fields as blank and leave it as a press release (which is what I did)?
- A: I have marked those last pages with only the papers names and places as a Cover Page. It is part of the Press Release, but if there are no names to be keyed, like other projects, it would be keyed as Cover Page.
- I want to point out the difference between a Cover page and Image with no data form type. Any record that has relevance to the collection, may be a title page, a subsequent page, etc but that we are not keying should be classified as a Cover page, section header form type. These images will be included in the Browse when the database goes live. Records classified as Image with no data form types are not included in the Browse - blank documents, empty images, etc should be classified as Image with no data. User:Afechter1 4 October 2013 (UTC)

There is a contradiction between the Field Help instructions "Do not key husbands given name into mother given name field" and this Keying Image Sample which highlights the father's full name and then says to key Mother Prefix, Given, and Surname.
