Question: On some of the cards there is the line "Commune" but nothing is entered. At the top of the card is the stamped name Bordeaux. Is this supposed to be the name entered into the "Commune" field?
Answer: Yes, key this stamped city name as the Residence field. Only key it if it is a city name - I have come across some stamped items that are not cities. The stamped city name may appear at either the top and bottom of the page.
Question: Should "&" be expanded to "et"?
Answer:Yes, please expand it to "et" - "et" is translated as "and."
Question: Should locations be expanded? For example, should H-Saone be expanded to Haute-Saone?
Answer: No. They should be keyed as written. --Paulmd199 22:21, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Question: On some of the cards, where it tells you to key the arrondissement number when Paris is the commune, the number will have an "e" with it, so for example I would key "8e Paris." Is this "e" important or just part of saying its an arrondissement or is it important enough to key with the commune?
Answer: Don't key the e as it is just the equivalent of th after a number, e.g. 4e = 4th. You would just key 4 Paris

A Couple of Useful Sites
mentioned in the discussion boards:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communes_of_the_Ain_department gives all the Communes in the department of Ain. Change "Ain" for other departments or use the clickable list at the bottom of the page. However, some of the departments have been reorganised/renamed since the voters cards.
http://www.frenchconnections.co.uk/en/guideatoz/city/starts-with-a gives all the towns of France starting with A, along with their departments (in parentheses). Change the last letter or use the boxes for others. This site can be a bit slow. I recommend saving the lists as text files which you can then search locally, maybe with one of the free "grep" tools which do wildcards.
